May 2 - Grocery shopping with a Friend
Avril has canceled a lot of concerts and TV Appearances because she lost her voice, she posted an explanation at her MySpace. Read it below.
Hey Guys,
I am at home right now taking it easy. I have been sick this whole tour, and now I have lost my voice. I have never canceled a show in my whole career and just had to for the first time ever. This sux! I am so sorry! I have been on the road for 60 days straight. I have had the flu 3 times and I never get sick, it just keeps going around. I think I am just run down. I just played 4 shows in a row in Texas (which is a lot for the vocals) and woke up in Vegas Tuesday with no voice. I thought I was gonna have to cancel that show, but I made it through…..barely! I still went on stage in Vegas and gave it my all, but unfortunately its interfering with my throat now. I had to eliminate songs.
I woke up yesterday and knew I wouldn’t be able to sing last night. My voice is so shot. We drove home yesterday and I went to my throat doctor. He stuck a camera down my throat….ewwww, I gagged!!! It was kinda funny though…..he said I have “Acute Laryngitis”.
So, um, yeah, that sux. I was supposed to play a show in San Diego yesterday and was supposed to perform on Jay Leno tomorrow and go live with Ryan Seacrest in the today, but I had to cancel that too. I’m at home resting my voice for 2 days and hope to be back out soon. Thank you for understanding. And once again, I sincerely apologize.

Check out the cover for The Best Damn Thing’s CD Single. The single will come out on June 6th 2008. So far we haven’t gotten any news if it will have any B-sides, like most of her CD singles, or even the song she recorded which is playing on tour, Bad Reputation! Maybe we’ll just get a remix, but we’ll see!

More energy and her biggest stage show ever is what Avril Lavigne is promising on her upcoming two-month-long “The Best Damn Tour,” which kicks off March 5 in Victoria, Canada.
“My inspiration for this record, a lot of it came from the live show and knowing what kind of songs I wanted to play live,” Lavigne told reporters Feb. 11 during a teleconference. “I wanted to play fast, fun songs. I love playing songs like ‘Sk8er Boi‘ onstage because the crowd just reacts, and I love it when everyone is freaking out and jumping.“
“My last record, ‘Under My Skin,’ was pretty mid-tempo and darker, so every song was like bringing down the audience,” she continued. “So I was just wanted to rock, which is why I made a very up-tempo record.”
Buoyed by the success of “The Best Damn Thing,” which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and also yielded the No. 1 hit single “Girlfriend,” Lavigne is planning a large stage show that even includes dancers and a cover of Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation.”
“The show is going to be very upbeat and the production will be bigger in the sense of dancers during a couple of songs, LED screens, a pink-sparkled drum kit and flags,” Lavigne says. “Over time, I’ve sort of learned how I need to be on stage, and I’m more confident. It’s just more dynamic, brighter and more colorful. I’m excited about it because I’ve been working on the show for a very long time now. And it’s just going to be really fun to finally go play.” Lavigne is also working on other business interests, including a fragrance and clothing line. “The clothing line is something I wanted to do for about three years,” she reported. “A lot of times people do licensing deals, and I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to own the company and really design and be creative.
“I’m excited because I love clothes, and I love anything visual,” she added. “I look at it as something new to put my energy into and take a little break, even though I will still be writing. I’ll never stop.”

Possibly too busy denying pregnancy rumours and dying her hair with Kool-Aid to bother with a drawn-out and costly legal battle, Avril Lavigne has made an out-of-court settlement in a suit that claimed the punk rock princess of adult contemporary radio plagiarized her hit song, “Girlfriend.”
“No Way! No Way!” does this mean, however, that Lavigne has admitted to ripping off her summer smash.
Members of the Rubinoos, a ’70s rock band that neither you nor your dad has ever heard of, filed the suit against Lavigne, claiming she ripped off their 1979 song, “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.”
Lavigne denied the allegations, claiming - much like most people under 45 - that she’d never heard the song before. Terry McBride, Lavigne’s manager, went so far as to consult with a musicologist, who said the songs were definitely different.
Still, as reported by Canadian Press, the Rubinoos’ lawyer confirmed Lavigne paid the band a settlement. The amount has not been disclosed, nor has Lavigne commented on the situation.

The two songwriters who accused Avril of plagarizing their song for her hit “Girlfriend” are now saying that she did nothing wrong. Tony Dunbar and James Gangwer claimed that the song written by Avril and writing partner Luke Gottwald ripped off their 1970’s song “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” by new wave group the Rubinoos. In a statement yesterday, the pair said: “We are satisfied that any similarities between the two songs resulted from Avril and Luke’s use of certain common and widely used lyrics. We therefore completely exonerate Avril and Luke from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made by us in our lawsuit.”Needless to say, a confidential settlement has been reached in the federal lawsuit filed by Dunbar and Gangwer.
